Sync

Sync Recovery & Troubleshooting

If Sync shows missing, old, or unexpected data, stop making changes on every device first. Keep Billiary installed and do not clear app data: a device may still hold the best copy.

Before you begin

  1. Stop using Billiary on your other phones and tablets so they do not add more changes.
  2. On each device that may have the best data, open Settings → Export data → Complete backup. Save each ZIP somewhere outside Billiary, such as Files or a computer, and label it with the device and date.
  3. Keep the original backup files until recovery is complete and you have checked the result.
Do not uninstall the app or erase a device. Reinstalling, clearing app storage, or replacing a device may remove your only healthy local copy.

Option 1: Restore a recent cloud restore point

Use this when the correct data was present in Sync during the last seven days. In Settings → Account & Sync, find the available Sync restore points. Preview the date and record and attachment counts, then choose the point from before the problem began and confirm Restore. Restoration adds new versions while retaining the current history.

Keep the devices online and open Billiary until Sync finishes on each one. Check bills, income, cards, and attachments before continuing to use the data.

Option 2: Rebuild cloud data from a healthy device

Use this only when one device has the complete, correct data you want to keep. A cloud deletion cannot be undone without a separate backup.

  1. With other devices still closed, make one final Complete backup from the healthy device and confirm the ZIP is saved.
  2. On that device, open Settings → Account & Sync → Delete cloud data and confirm. This is separate from Delete account; do not choose account deletion.
  3. Wait for the deletion status to show completed. Do not activate Sync before that status appears.
  4. If the healthy device does not already show the data you intend to restore, use Settings → Import data → Complete backup, select the ZIP you saved, review the preview, and confirm the import while Sync is inactive.
  5. Return to Settings → Account & Sync, enable Sync, review the upload preview carefully, and confirm the initial upload.
  6. After the initial upload finishes, verify the new cloud data from the healthy device. Keep the other devices closed until this check is complete.
  7. Before reconnecting each secondary device, make sure its Complete backup is safely saved. Remove and reinstall Billiary on that device to clear its old local Sync state, then sign in to the same account and let it download the rebuilt cloud data. Do this one device at a time and check the result before moving to the next.

Compare record and attachment counts and open a few attachments on each device. Keep your ZIP backups until every device has been checked. Reinstalling clears local app data, so do it only after confirming the backup file is saved and readable.

If no device has a trustworthy copy

Do not delete cloud data or repeatedly import backups. Contact Billiary support from Settings → Account & Sync and include the displayed Support ID, what went wrong, and the approximate date. Support may ask for a Complete backup through a private support channel.

Important: Delete cloud data removes cloud Sync records, attachments, exports, and restore points. It does not remove local data from that device. Account deletion is a different, permanent action. Never send a backup ZIP through a public post or an untrusted link.
